I’m finally ready to share a very personal story with you all,and as I write it I shed some sad, but happy, tears.
This happened to me and my sister in-law when my mother in-law Nola passed away. Unfortunately Nola passed away half an hour before I went in to see her at Casey Hospital.
The day itself was dark and rainy, and the clouds were thick and black. A sad looking day for an incredibly sad time.
Silvana, Nola’s daughter, was with her mum when she passed away; I was so grateful.
Bill had been at the hospital with our son Joey until 5.10am that morning, they came home to get some sleep before taking me back to the hospital that morning.Unfortunately, at approximately 9.30am, just as we were ready to leave from home and go back into the hospital, Nola passed away.
Unfortunately, at approximately 9.30am, just as we were ready to leave from home and go back into the hospital, Nola passed away.
Bill and myself arrived at the hospital around 10.00am on the morning of Saturday, the 11th of May. Our hearts were heavy. We were at the hospital to say our farewells, and to start the arrangements that had to be made.
I was talking to Sil and Nola (even though Nola had passed, I gently brushed her hair and spoke with her). I cared and nursed Nola for many years, giving up my job as a nurse to care for her. She lived with us for 15 years.
The nursing staff were incredible, and allowed us time to grieve. We stayed in the room for as long as we needed. We were talking, and of course crying. It was a very sad time.
Bill had left the room; he was on the phone to other family members telling them the sad news.
As Silvana and I myself sat in our chairs either side of Nola, crying and talking, I noticed how dark the room was no light was on, and outside was dreadfully dark and stormy. The curtain was nearly all the way closed except for a small gap, maybe 20cm for some light to come into the room, even though it was so dark outside.
Silvana and I were talking, then all of a sudden through the small opening in the curtain, came this magnificent light, and hit my mother in-laws forehead (exactly where our third eye is). It was the most brilliant magnificent golden light I’d ever seen in my life. It totally drenched her entire forehead in this magnificent light, streaming outside all the way high up into the sky.
I watched in absolute amazementl, this light was not natural; it was other worldly. At the same time, Sil yelled at me, “Amanda are you seeing this?!” And I said, “Yes Sil, I am.” It actually took my breath away. It actually took Sils breath away.
It looked incredible; it was like a movie scene and a stairway to heaven taking her soul back home. This magnificent light lasted for about one minute, then slowly disappeared.
I got up from my chair and opened the curtain further and the sky was as black as coal.
I knew a that moment what we both had witnessed was special and certainly something that we will both remember for the rest of our lives.
